Randall Lee Donselman

Mr. Randall Lee Donselman, age 74, of Cave City, Kentucky passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024, at his residence.  Randall was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 11, 1949, a son of the late Maynard Henry and Doris Estelle (Combs) Donselman. Soon after he was born, the family moved to Cave City to begin the family operation of the newly built Cave Land Motel.  Many fond memories were made at the motel and Randy remained in Cave City all of his life. In his younger years, he played little league baseball and was a Cub Scout.  In 1969, Bruce Gentry and Randy coached a little league baseball team that went on to win the Frankfort Invitational Tournament.  He was a member of the local softball team for years.  He was a 1967 graduate of Caverna High School and went on to attend Western Kentucky University. He began working at Eaton Axle in Glasgow and was one of the first employees hired at the plant.  He retired at an early age of fifty, after a long career. Randy enjoyed being with old friends, and going fishing with his buddy, Frank and going to Churchill Downs with family and friends.  He would dress as Santa Clause at Christmas time for the young members of the family and scare the children with a costume at Halloween.  He enjoyed sitting on his deck and reading books and was an avid soccer fan. 

He is survived by his brother, Donnie Donselman and wife Anita, of Danville, Kentucky and a sister, Brenda Thomas and husband Lacy of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Nieces and nephews, Donnie Lee Donselman and wife Tonya of Richmond, Jennifer Pettyjohn and husband Josh of Nicholasville, Natalie Richardson and husband Casey, and Nick Scott all of Elizabethtown, three great nieces and nephews; Gracie Donselman and Cole and Will Richardson also survive. 

In addition to his parents, Maynard and Doris Donselman, he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Grant and Lottie Combs, and paternal grandparents, Harry and Eleanora Donselman. 

A Celebration of Randall’s life will take place on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Bob Hunt Funeral Chapel in Cave City.  The family will receive visitors on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Friends are invited to attend and partake in sharing stories and memories about Randall.
