Joy Ann Gossett

December 23, 1933 — May 18, 2024

Cave City, Kentucky

Mrs. Joy Ann (Haydon) Gossett, age 90, of Cave City, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday May 18, 2024.  She was born on December 23, 1933, to the late Franklin and Ruby Haydon of Park City, Kentucky.  Joy graduated from Park City High School. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She was a housewife and when she was younger, she enjoyed cooking, flower gardening and vegetable gardening.   Listening to music was one of her favorite things to do.  Gospel music was usually playing on the radio in the kitchen.  In her later years she watched gospel music shows every Saturday and Sunday on TV.   She was a great cook and made the best butterscotch pie, blackberry cobbler, and fried pies.  Cooking for workhands on the farm kept her busy in the summertime.  Helping others was something she was always willing to do, and many people came to her for a helping hand.

Little Bethel Baptist Church was her home church for many years where she played piano, taught VBS and Sunday School.  Later she became a member of Barren County Baptist Church.  As a devout Christian, she will be missed by her community.

She is survived by three children, Jimmie Gossett and wife Brenda of Cave City, Larry Gossett and wife Debbie of Cave City, and Lisa Werenskjold and husband Eric of Glasgow, three grandchildren; Dusty Gossett, Halie Thomas and husband Ben, and Jordan Gossett and wife Scarlett and seven great grandchildren; Jonah, Addie, Tate and Ruie Thomas, Hayden and William Gossett and Kemble Gossett,  two younger brothers, Carl Haydon and wife Daisy of Cave City and Danny Haydon and wife Judy of Cleveland, Tennessee also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Gossett and her oldest brother, Kenneth Haydon.
