Joan Johnson Thurby

Mrs. Joan (Johnson) Thurby, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at TJ Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow, Kentucky. She was born in Sweeden, Kentucky and a daughter to the late Walter Howard and Mable Lorene (Gipson) Johnson. 

She is survived by her daughter, Cassie Davis of Cave City, her grandchildren: Caleb Tate, M’Kyia Davis, Amani Driver, Josiah Driver, and LaDeja Driver, Jeremy Mikesell, and Taylor Garvin, Jonathon & Jerrad Filback, and Gavin & Miaya Smith.  Three siblings; Julie Casey, Ronald “Ronnie” Johnson and Troy Gipson, also survive.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Thurby, and her siblings; John Johnson, Marcia Filback, and Donnie Steven Johnson.

In honoring Joan’s wishes, cremation was chosen by the family, with no services scheduled at this time.
